Restaurant Asylum

In case you don't know, I work at a restaurant in a big department store, for now. Details won't be given because frankly, as usual, it's none of your business. Anyway, we get some of the strangest people as customers.

Do I LOOK like a Waitress to you???

*Ahem* What's it with people mistaking MOI for a waitress??? There is a difference between sitting people at tables and taking orders. I am a HOSTESS not a waitress. I don't care what you want to order I just want you to sit down and give me the money to pay your bill. Waitresses get paid $3.50/hr and are allowed to accept tips. I get paid $7.25/hr and can't accept tips. Waitresses have uniforms, I wear black pants and a shirt. Waitresses are required to be polite to you... hehehehe I don't HAVE to...

Why do you want to sit at a dirty table?

Why do people feel compeled to sit at dirty tables? Every other table in the restaurant is clean but nooooo... everyone wants to sit at the dirty table. And then they look at ME as if I'm expected to clean it. Sorry, sugar, but I don't have to clean it as long as there is another place I can seat you.Then again maybe since someone else sat there already the seat is nice and warm for ya? If you sit at the dirty table anyway, I have no problems with making you wait.

These Streets We Walk

As I travel the streets of the City there are many things I notice...

Tell me off for $2.00

The homeless... "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"   Gotta love NYC. Where else would you find homeless people with such creativity? Yesterday while walking down 5th Avenue I saw a homeless man with a sign reading "Tell me off for $2.00." I found it funny... Personally, I only give money to the homeless if they have talent or funny signs, otherwise I only give to organizations.

425 Positions for $1.00

One of the funniets of all NYC area street vendors... This guy has a HUGE neon pink sign saying "425 Positions for $1.00" I just found it entirely amusing. Only in NYC would one have the nerve to do such a thing. ::sniff sniff:: I Love NYC!!!

Chasing the Train off the Tracks...

Once again I must reaffirm how much I love NYC. Last night, or perhaps this morning, technically, anyway at 3AM as my friends and I were riding on the LIRR after a night of seeing RENT and eating at the Life Cafe when a group of tottaly obnoxious teenyboppers came on the train drunk. While I must admitt that two of the guys were hot, they were still acting like total morons. Both a cop and a FBI agent (off duty) had to tell them to shut up but still they persisted. So they got the MTA and some uniformed cops.... It was amusing... Better than Jerry Springer.

Censorship

Censorship is bad, m'kay. You shouldn't censor, m'kay. People who censor are bad, m'kay. Don't censor...

"Explicit Lyrics"

Why is it every time I go to buy a new CD I must check to make sure it's not the censored version? Why do people feel the need to censor music? Music is a form of expression, as is profanity. I know some artists go overboard (Eminem) but it's still the way they express themselves. I mean, seriously!! I was at J&R's usic store the otherday searching for some Stabbing Westward CDs (they were having a sale) and what did I see but "Darkest Days" on sale for $9.99. A GREAT deal I thought until I remembered from my research and toying around at Amazon.com that Darkest Days had two versions explicit and editted. I searched the CD for the Parental Discrection sticker and lo and behold it wasn't there. WHY WASN'T IT THERE!!! I wanted that CD but I wanted the Explicit one!!! Unfair!!

Life sucks and then you die... Seriously, I think that existence is just a very cruel joke the gods decided to play on us one day... Yeah let's see what would those humans do if we totally screwed with their lives...

Drama

Welcome to college aka High School revisited... If you expect people to behave any differently in college than they do in high school be prepared for disappointment. I wish people would mind their own damn business sometimes. Yes, I am dating Dan, SO WHAT? He's sweet, kind and very good to me. I don't need CERTAIN people getting pissed at me just because he used to go out with their ex. Get a life. It's over. Does anyone else trust that I might actually by some miracle of the gods know what I am doing?

Guilty Before Innocent without a Trial

Nothing annoys me more than when people make judgements without looking at the whole picture. You cannot believe the rumors about anyone. I don't know maybe I'm too fair of a person to deal with the crap from this world. Maybe I'm just more open to the truth behind the rumors because I have been hurt by them in the past? Nothing like hearing stories about how you've done things you wouldn't even dream of doing. Maybe I expect too much from people? Could it be a fault to expect people, friends especially, to have open minds? Then again, not everyone has felt the sting of an outrageous rumor... How how I expect them to understand? Society is it's own judge, jury and executioner with little thought to the individual.
